The story behind the server, the semester, and the stubbornness.

Sønderborg, DenmarkJune 2026

I grew up in Dubai and finished school there under the ICSE curriculum, so I move between Coimbatore and the UAE fairly regularly. That background shaped how I like to work: understand the system end-to-end, whether that’s a self-hosted home server, an embedded project, or a trading algorithm.

I’m now a third-year CSE student at KCT, spending my fifth semester in ProtoSem — an industry-immersion programme that replaces traditional exams with real company projects delivered through Forge at KCT Tech Park.

Outside coursework I’m part of the Nigal Media Club, and I spend my time on sim racing, Formula 1, forex research, cooking, home automation, badminton and keeping my own hardware alive.

I’d rather build something end-to-end and learn from what breaks than stay purely theoretical.

The route here

  1. — 2023Dubai, UAE

    School, ICSE

Grew up in Dubai and finished school there. Built a Flappy Bird clone in Scratch and a first-person obstacle course in Unity along the way.

  2. 2024Coimbatore, India

    Joined KCT

Started Computer Science Engineering at Kumaraguru College of Technology.

  3. 2024 & 2025

Nova Team Challenge — won twice

Won in both first and second year. The second-year win was by roughly a 30% points margin.

  4. 2025

    Selected into iQube

Admitted under heavy competition. Completed a mechanical design intake project covering product design, design thinking, machine drawing and 3D modelling in Shapr3D.

  5. June 2026Sønderborg & Aarhus, Denmark

    Discover Denmark

Ten days across Aarhus University and the University of Southern Denmark studying the green transition — Robotics and Digital Twin, NAN, Drone Research, Circuit and Photonics labs, plus Uber’s Aarhus office. Extended it through Paris, then flew home solo via Istanbul.

  6. NowKCT Tech Park

    ProtoSem @ Forge

Fifth semester as an Innovation Engineer — 20 weeks of industry projects at KCT Tech Park instead of lectures and exams.

02ProtoSem

A semester without exams

20 weeks as an Innovation Engineer at Forge, KCT Tech Park.

I’m spending my fifth semester as an Innovation Engineer in ProtoSem — a 20-week full-semester immersion run by Forge at KCT Tech Park. Instead of attending lectures and sitting examinations, I’m working full-time in an industry environment on innovation, product engineering and rapid prototyping.

ProtoSem exists to close the gap between engineering education and industry. Companies, startups and organisations bring real problems to Forge; those get broken down into projects or product modules and handed to student teams. Under industry mentors we research, design, prototype, test and iterate, following actual product development practice.

What’s running

HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF
  • Proxmox VEHypervisor

Bare metal host. VMs and LXC containers on ZFS pools.

  • ZFSStorage

Redundant pool across four 4TB drives, plus Media0 — a single 8TB disk for content that doesn’t need it.

  • DockerContainers

Everything above the hypervisor runs containerised.

  • PortainerOrchestration

Web UI over the Docker socket — stacks, logs, restarts.

  • Pi-holeDNS filtering

Network-wide ad and tracker blocking at the DNS layer.

  • AdGuard HomeDNS filtering

Running alongside Pi-hole — different lists, failover resolver.

  • NextcloudPrivate cloud

File sync and storage I own, backed by the ZFS pool.

  • NFSNetwork shares

Mounts for the LAN, wired into Nextcloud’s external storage.

  • VaultwardenPassword manager

Self-hosted Bitwarden-compatible vault. Next on the list.

  • Home network on EasyMesh — Archer C5 v4 as controller, C64 as satellite, over ACT Fiber.
  • Server-side 2.5GbE upgrade in progress: Realtek RTL8125 on enp7s0 via USB-C, alongside the onboard Intel I219-LM. Testing the stock r8169 driver before swapping.
  • Pi-hole and AdGuard Home both resolve for the whole network.
  • NFS shares mounted across the LAN and wired into Nextcloud.

What the data said

  • No hard stop loss anywhere in the logic — losses were closed by margin pressure, not by design.
  • Position sizing was Martingale-style: doubling into drawdown, which is what produced the smooth-looking curve right up until it didn’t.
  • SELL trades lost consistently while BUY trades carried the account — a directional bias the aggregate P&L completely masked.

Badminton, Formula 1, a camera, and a kitchen.

Formula 1 & sim racing

Race weekends are non-negotiable. Sim racing is the closest I get to the real thing — and the only place where understanding tyre temperature is a transferable skill.

Teflon-free pans, app-controlled appliances where they earn it. Same instinct as everything else — I want to know what’s actually happening in the pan.

Films & anime

Suzume was my first anime and it completely landed. The media club habit means I now notice the grade and the sound mix whether I want to or not.

I shoot and publish photography too.
